Summer is all about comfy, flowing dresses and now we've created the PERFECT one to take you through the entire Summer and even better No. Pattern. Required.
We will teach you the entire process of making the dress from scratch which includes how to take measurements to make a dress to you beautifully, during two online sewing classes, and by the end of the second week you'll have a gorgeous dress AND know how to recreate the pattern to any size (cue those orders coming in from friends and family!).
We will be focussing on a few different sewing skills this session:
- Bias binding to the neck lining
- Gathering the skirt
- Creating an easy fastening (no zips required!)
CLASSES ARE RECORDED AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A COPY OF THE WORKSHOP TO DOWNLOAD IN CASE YOU MISS THE CLASS OR WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
Suitable for both beginners and improvers, although we do ask you to be comfortable being able to set up your own machine.
2 sessions of 2 hours (4 hours in total)
You will need:
- Approximately 2m of fabric
- 1m of 20mm bias binding
- Sewing machine with thread
- Measuring tape
- Chalk or erasable pen
Do get in touch if you are unsure about your fabric length as we can help work it out before you buy! We suggest buying fabric that is lightweight but with drape; so cotton lawn, linen, double gauze or cotton poplin is perfect.
We will ask to cut out the pieces prior to the first session (this saves time so we get sewing in the online classes). We have made a really easy step by step worksheet for you to go through at your own pace and our resident expert sewer is on hand to help you through it if you get stuck - you just need to drop us an email and we'll arrange a callback to help you. You will also receive a video to help you measure yourself perfectly.
